Before I rev up here, this is about risk management.
I'm not going to go into the details of the Green New Deal (GND) here. I will say that the program is synergistic. It's been criticized for not being fully drafted legislation, but I'd like to remind everyone that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) requested a full committee to draft legislation based upon the basic plan. She was right to ask for it. Nancy Pelosi was flat wrong to reconstitute a weak and in-effective alternative. Of course, Speaker Pelosi has made no secret of her negative attitude concerning global warming. Let me also say that AOC is often criticized for overstating things. She said that if we don't act, the world will end in 12 years. Well, I don't know whether she's revised that, but it's the general consensus among science not bought and paid for by the carbon-fuel industry that if we don't act quickly and radically, then within 12 years, the world as we know it will definitely slide rapidly into a living nightmare for humanity, all of it.
The United States is currently the largest crude oil producer in the world. This week, Mike Pompeo met with oil and gas industry executives in Houston to remind them of their vital role in fueling the wars to control the world’s oil. Bill Van Auken reports, “Pompeo’s speech provided a blunt description of US predatory aims across the planet that involve the interests of the American-based energy conglomerates.” He was open about US imperialist aims regarding oil in Iran and Venezuela. Is there anything more to say?
You've heard the old expression that "the devil is in the details." I think that's a great old saying. You've probably also heard that "the love of money is the root of all evil." That's a great saying too. Most people forget both. They don't dive into an issue but simply accept what the mainstream media tells them (and that mainstream media loves money).
