This process will not end until every single human being doesn't have to work for money anymore, really doesn't have to work at all.
Walmart is planning to use thousands of robots for a wide variety of tasks within its stores following a "well-received" round of tests in 2018.
It's only just the beginning.
You've probably read plenty of articles about how automation will never replace jobs that require brains. Those articles are wrong. Their like articles that said cars would never catch on and replace horses.
Look, AI isn't going to level off at something just beyond human intelligence. It may well be that there will always be something about the human brain that can't be replicated by human created/induced technology, but that does not mean that all mandatory work for pay won't be able to be duplicated and done so even better by AI.
So, we better start planning our economy to handle not having to work. We better plan to just give the benefits of human ingenuity in the form of automation to everyone. We better plan for a moneyless economy, as not even "money" will be needed to mete out to each and all what each needs and wants (wants within reason).
