Worsening child poverty harms learning, say teachers in the UK. Well, the same applies everywhere, including in the US.
The surest way to have a great generation ready, willing, and able to tackle all the issues we face is through a great education. A great education for all is not possible under austerity or massive student-loan requirements, etc. Some buck the odds, but that's hardly an excuse to do nothing productive to raise standards across the board.
We must lift the bottom to really lift everything. Whether the ultra-rich like it or not, they don't do nearly as well as they would were the poor to do much, much better than the poor are now doing.
