We'll do things the other way around for this post. First, enjoy. Then we'll cover the tougher side of life.
Oh, to be young again.
Here's an editorial.
So, Biden has racked up endorsement after endorsement from establishment politicians and former establishment-politicians. Sanders has turned his full focus on Biden, which means from here on out, Bernie will be perfecting his ability to state why Joe has to go. My counsel is to focus on the choices Joe made that turned out to harm America in general, especially economically and democratically.
Forget handing Joe the softballs he can easily dismiss in Trumpian fashion. If Bernie doesn't play full time hardball with Joe, Bernie won't make it. Enough with the "I like Joe, and he's my friend" stuff. Joe played fast and loose with the American economy and its already woefully inadequate democracy.
Don't leave it to the Republicans to take Joe down either. They have every reason to wait until you've lost the primary, Bernie. They know Joe would be easy to take down over Ukraine, something you've been completely wrong on, by the way (well, not really just by the way).
You want to re-fire up the youth? Play extremely hard and fast hardball. Throw nothing but strikes that are so fast, Joe can't even dream about bunting. So far, you've been walking him. You need to break his bat.
As for your choice for VP, Warren wouldn't make a good choice at all. You need someone with a foreign-policy focus that is anti-neocon, someone who is anti-neoliberal too, of course. When I envision Tulsi Gabbard ripping into Mike Pence's neoconservatism on steroids, I smile at the outcome.
It would be an extremely wise decision for Bernie to do as Tulsi has asked. She's right concerning the corruption that kept her off while allowing others on and inviting those who were polling lower.
On Friday night, Gabbard took to social media and appealed to Biden and Sanders to let her join them on the debate stage once again.
"@JoeBiden @Bernie Sanders I’m sure you would agree that our Democratic nominee should be a person who will stand up for what is right. So I ask that you have the courage to do that now in the face of the DNC's effort to keep me from participating in the debates," Gabbard tweeted.
She then called out the DNC for changing the debate requirements to allow Mike Bloomberg onto the debate stage.
"To keep me off the stage, the DNC again arbitrarily changed the debate qualifications. Previously they changed the qualifications in the OPPOSITE direction so Bloomberg could debate. I ask that you stand w/ me against the DNC’s transparent effort to exclude me from the debates. #LetTulsiDebate," she said.
The hashtag #LetTulsiDebate trended on Twitter throughout Friday evening.
Gabbard has not appeared on at a Democratic debate since November. She was also snubbed by CNN's town hall series despite the liberal network inviting former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, whose polling was lower than hers.
I completely disagree with this article. Warren self-imploded when she fudged on Medicare for All and then attacked Sanders, twice. Clinton won the popular vote and would have won it all had she won the primary without cheating and had, had a considerable less hawkish foreign-policy track record and campaign platform. The fact that Warren is female had little to nothing to do with losing. Anyway, one should never, never, never vote for anyone based upon the candidate being male versus female (or on race, color, age, etc.). Character, yes. Health, yes. ... Drop the identity politics. Go for economic democracy. The rest will then sort itself out.
Elizabeth Warren Attacks Bernie Sanders And Is Not Likely To Endorse.
CORRECTION: Warren is 2 years into her 6 year term. She’s up for re-election in 2024, not 2022.
Of course, politicians can turn on a dime.
... the researchers also found that when the caterpillars fed on plastic, they excreted ethylene glycol, which is toxic.
Fascists of a feather flock together. Jair Bolsonaro doesn't even try to hide the fact he's a fascist. Meanwhile, Trump acts as if it doesn't matter Bolsonaro's a fascist. Is Trump a closet fascist? Some people think he's out of the closet for sure.
Drop daylight-saving time.
Arizona and Hawaii are on standard time, meaning it’s lighter in the morning and darker in the evening. The clocks are fixed.
A growing number of states, including California, say they will adopt year- round daylight saving time if the federal government approves.
Fantastic! To think it's just the beginning.
Even as Jimmy Wales was rolling out the plan that is Wikipedia, he made clear that it was to be an establishment-reinforcement mechanism.
If the subject is "controversial" and the "facts" in the article not easily verified, the Wikipedia is often a terrible source.
The primary goal of these covert campaigns appears to be pushing Western and Israeli government positions while destroying the reputation of independent journalists and politicians.
Articles most affected by this kind of manipulation include political, geopolitical and certain historical topics as well as biographies of non-conformist academics, journalists, and politicians.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, a friend of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and a “Young Leader” of the Davos forum, has repeatedly defended these operations.
... between frosting that was really dust; to gas release that was hissing coming from outside; to a reaction that occurred during rapid decompression which was really fire damage; there’s enough evidence to conclude that Forensic Architecture is a fraudulent venture set up to help prove a narrative that is favourable to NATO countries – when it comes to Syria.
It will be interesting to see how Aaron Maté covers this.
... financial magazine Caixin reported this week that some companies were keeping machines running and lights open throughout the day even though they have no goods to produce, in a bid to allow managers and local officials to inflate the official work resumption rate. Reuters wasn’t able to verify this report.
Fawzia Koofi: The Taliban Have INSULTED the Women of Afghanistan!
We speak to the Vice President of Afghanistan’s National Assembly Fawzia Koofi about her experience helping negotiate women’s rights with the Taliban, why she chose to overcome personal difficulties with the Taliban, the imposition of the Burqa in Afghanistan by the Taliban, the recently-negotiated US-Taliban peace deal and more!
Speaking of the Taliban, this movie starts out strangely but definitely tells a full and realistic story.
